Report Back Open Day 17 Aug 2008

On Sunday the 17th August 2008, the Caboolture Aero club organised an Open Day and Fly-in at the Caboolture Airfield. The day ended as a huge success and I believe that we achieved our goal without incident and within budget. The purpose of this OPEN DAY was to promote the airfield in the interest of MAINTAINING an EXTENDED LEASE and therefore, your ENTHUSIASTIC SUPPORT AND ASSISTANCE was required to make this BUDGET event one that we could be proud of and one that we could all say , we did our best !! –

Well, I would like to say a very BIG THANK YOU to all of you for a wonderful Open Day. What the day proved to us, is that we, as a group of likeminded people can achieve our goals if we pull together – I say this, because the day would not have been such a great success, never mind not happening at all, if we did not pool our resources as a group of aviation enthusiasts that loves Caboolture Aerodrome, and who want this aerodrome to remain for generations to come.

The small window of opportunity brought upon us by the untimely expectation of the completion of the Replacement Aerodrome Study (RAS), forced us to operate with limited financial and planning resources to make this open day happen. What this bought us is an appreciation by the community of the many facets of aviation that exists at Caboolture Airfield. I have received many emails congratulating the Club on a family orientated day. Although small on the scale of achievements one emotional email was from a mother who said that her son had joined the air league after talking to the other members at their display. We have also had enquiries to locate the Air force cadet glider training camps at Caboolture. I did not receive one negative comment on the day and that is thanks to an excellent effort by all. We do have a few items to improve for next time but all indications are that we will repeat the exercise next year. I have received some suggestions about other functions and we will consider those as well. Thank you all once again!!!.
